An endless attitude of gratitude

Today is Holy Saturday , a solemn day to ask for the grace to imagine Jesus lying in the tomb, in death. It is from this death - the same death we will all experience - that Jesus is raised. We can not feel the deepest joy of Easter without spending some reflecting on this good news. We can pause in background moments to give thanks for the gift of mercy and life we have been given. The Easter Vigil liturgy is the fullest celebration of the Resurrection and a renewal of our sense of Baptism. If we are unable to celebrate the Vigil, we might go to bed this night, thanking God for what the dawn brings: our opportunity to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, who draws us to the fullness of life with him.

We are still in darkness , but waiting for the great moment of Light and Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour

LORD Jesus Christ, eternal and merciful God,
Creator and Redeemer of all, listen to my prayer.

For the love You did bear to those who ask forgiveness,
look on me with mercy, as once You did look on Mary Magdalen,
and on Peter who denied Thee.

Look on me, Lord Jesus Christ, as You did looked at the thief on his cross
and on every sinner whom You has ever forgiven.

Look on me, merciful Lord, as You did look on Thy Mother, Mary,
standing in sorrow beneath Thy Cross.

Let me feel in my heart her compassion for Thee,
and let my eyes weep for Thy sorrows, caused by my sinful life.

Call me back from the darkness to my Father's house, give me a new heart
and a place at Thy side in the banquet Thou has prepared for me. Amen
